Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the B&W Companion Sliding Fifth Wheel for OEM-prepped Ford trucks. Now, today we have it in a 2024 Ford F-250. Now if you have the factory prep, or puck system as they call it, on your Ford, this is gonna be a great option, especially with those short beds because of the sliding function. And if you've towed fifth wheels before, you know that when you start to make tight turns with those short bed trucks, you can run the risk of damaging the cab corners with that fifth wheel hitting the truck. Well, the great thing about having a sliding fifth wheel means you can still keep your short bed truck and not have to worry about hitting those cab corners because when you make those tight turns, you can slide the head back, giving you more clearance. (metal thudding) Now in that sliding back position, you gain 12 inches of travel, and that's gonna make the world a difference when you get yourself into a tight situation where you just can't turn anymore but you really can't get out of there, sliding this is gonna allow you to get that clearance, make that tight turn, and get out of that situation. more

Hey, everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2023 Ford F-350, we're gonna be checking out the B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch for trucks that have the OEM prep package. So I think it's really cool that not only Ford, but some of the other manufacturers of these late mile trucks are starting to put the prep package in right from the factory. And so if you have that, it's gonna make setting up a fifth wheel, or even a gooseneck hitch for that matter, extremely easy since essentially, these just drop right into place. So right off the bat, this is gonna be a fixed-style hitch, meaning you're not able to slide it back. And so ideally, you're gonna want to use this style in a truck that has a long bed, and that's because with that longer box, you're gonna have more clearance referring to the cab. more

Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider Instalaltion - 2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty- Video
Today on our 2018 Ford F three 50 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Q series line of fifth wheel trailer hitches with slider for the Ford Towing Prep package. More and more nowadays we're seeing trucks that have shorter than eight foot beds on those which comes in a problem when we go to towing the fifth wheel, 'cause we want our hitch to be on the forward side of our rear axle, but that ends up putting our trailer extremely close to our cab. That's where our slider's gonna help out. When it comes time to make those tight turns, we can come to this vertical handle here on this side, we'll pull it out, rotate it back, and that'll allow the hitch to slide back a full 12 inches giving us more clearance to go around the turn. And we'll lock into position so we can make that turn without fear of hitting our truck. And then whenever we need to go in a straight line again and we're ready to tow, simply pull that handle out again, rotate it again and our hitch will slide back and lock into the towing position. more

Today on our 2019 Ford F350 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with slider assembly, and this is gonna work with that Ford factory prep package. A lot of newer trucks nowadays are coming with shorter and shorter bed lengths and that can cause some issues with your stationary style 5th wheels and that's due to clearance. So with that shorter bed, the front of your 5th wheel trailer is gonna be closer to the cab of the truck. So in particular, for example, whenever you go to turn, since we're a little bit closer, you can have some issues with your trailer actually contacting the bed of your truck or the cab and damage it. So to alleviate that problem, we're actually going to be able to slide the 5th wheel closer to the back of the truck and provide us with that clearance we need. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at B&W's the Patriot 18K Fifth Wheel on a 2013 Ford F-250. Now, today we have our fifth wheel in a 6 1/2' bed and that's why this is a great option. B&W makes some awesome fifth wheel hitches. They're some of my personal favorites. The quality's fantastic, but this one in particular, if your weight capacity is right at 18,000 or less, is gonna be a great option because, when you need to maneuver, you need a little bit more clearance so you don't hit your cab corners, you can just simply pull the latch, slide this back, it'll lock into place and now you can maneuver without having to worry about damaging your cab. We have our Patriot mounted into Demco's Premier Series rail kit. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2017 Ford F-150. And when getting a 5th wheel hitch on a truck, you do wanna take into account the bed length. And this one being a relatively short bed at 5-1/2' means that you're gonna need something that's going to be able to slide back to make those turns. That way you're not making damage on your cab corners. And this one's a little bit different than some of the others on the market and probably the best fit for this because this auto slides. So as your pin box goes into these channels, when you turn, it'll actually rotate and automatically slide this back, giving you that clearance when you make your turns without having to go out and pull a lever and allow it to slide, it's gonna do it itself. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got a 2018 Ford F-150 with the five-and-a-half-foot bed, and we're gonna be showing you the Demco Autoslide 13,000 pound 5th Wheel Hitch. This is gonna be one of the best options for a 5th wheel hitch that you can pair with a short-bed truck that is a five and a half or a six-foot bed truck. The way that this hitch works is that you're going to lock your kingpin into the head, and then the kingpin will no longer rotate inside here. It's going to take this, these sides and rotate this whole head, and the 5th wheel will back itself up as you're turning. So if you go to back into a campsite and you're turning, this is going to turn, and as it turns, it'll go back, and it'll give you 22 and a half inches of travel. more

Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer and today we'll be showing you how to install the B&W Companion OEM 5th wheel hitch with slider base here on our 2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty. If you own a newer Ford truck and you have the Ford towing prep package in it and you're wanting a 5th wheel hitch that can give you a little bit more turning clearance because you have a shorter bed and just can't make those tight turns like you could if you had an eight foot bed. Then the B&W Companion with slider base is going to be the hitch for you. With this slider base, it has feet designed to drop straight into the puck system that comes with your Ford towing prep package. The handles are super easy to use, simply just pull them out to unlock your hitch or, once you have your hitch dropped in, just pull 'em in towards the base and then lock 'em up with your pin and clip. This makes installation and removal for an empty bed to tow any other items, maybe you're moving some furniture, maybe you just wanna load this up with some other gear and don't want to have that hitch in the way, just makes it super easy to get it outta here. more

Now this is gonna go onto your Band W under bed mount kit for your gooseneck. Now this is gonna be on a 2019 Ford F250. So let's go through, take a look at it and see the install portion, and this is a great option because it's pretty easy to put in place. So if you're going from your goose neck to a fifth wheel with an extra set of hands or two, you can get this loaded in place and ready to rock in less than 10 minutes. Now as far as the weight capacities go, the gross trailer weight rating is gonna be 20,000 pounds which is gonna be the weight of the trailer that you're pulling plus whatever's loaded onto there. more

Hi there, Ford owners. Today on your 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at B and W's Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch. This one has the manual slide as well, so if you've got a short bed truck, it's gonna give you the extra clearance you need from your cab. Now you can see here, this one you can tell has been pretty heavily used, and that's because this customer has had this in service for a couple of years now. And he recently upgraded to a new truck, and since this is designed to drop right into Ford trucks with a factory fifth wheel prep package, when he got his new one here, he was able to take it out and just slide it right into his new truck. So you can see here that this is a lifetime investment that's gonna give you plenty of service, and even as you upgrade your components around you, it still has a place. more

Hi there Ford owners, today in your 2021 Ford F450, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, Reese's M5 fifth wheel hitch, for Ford vehicles, with a prep package ,for fifth wheels. You can get this at either a 27 K or 20 K model. We're showing off the twenty seven K today. Now, if you have a factory puck system, a hitch like this, it's going to install extremely easy. You do have to do a little bit of pre-assembly, to attach the parts, once you get them from the box, but once it's assembled, you can either do it in the truck bed which we're gonna be showing you how to do, Cause it's easier to do, if you're doing it all by yourself, or if you've got a friend there to help you, you can assemble it out of the truck. Typically you run into clearance issues when you go to turn, especially really tight turns where the overhang of your 5th wheel gets extremely close to the cab of your truck. more

It's designed, of course, to fit right down into that Ford Prep Package that you've got underneath the bed of your truck. Then it offers us room, it's going to slide rearward towards the truck, and that's one of the big features I really like about it. You've got your lock handle here, move that into the unlocked position, and it slides very, very easily. Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Ford F-250, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Reese Elite Series Preassembled Fifth-Wheel Hitch with Slider, part number RP30144.Here's what our fifth-wheel and slider looks like installed. Now, the reason you're going to want this particular fifth-wheel and slider compared to other options on the market is that if your Ford truck, such as this one, has the factory rail system, this drops right in with no modification to the vehicle required at all. Also, you're going to need a slider if your truck does not have 8' bed. This particular truck has a 6-3/4' bed.As we make sure quick turns or do tight corners or pull into gas stations, we run the risk of having the overhang of our fifth-wheel contacting the cab of our truck. By having a slider in place, we move the overhang further back giving us the necessary clearance to make those maneuvers safely without damaging our truck or trailer.Compared to other options on the market, this one seems easier to me to be able to install and remove from the truck, if need be if we want full access to our bed, because it is lighter weight. Reese R16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2012 Ford F250, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Titan 16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number RP30866. So, here we have our fifth wheel installed along with our base rails, which are sold separately. This fifth wheel is gonna work with all industry standard base rails that mount inside the truck bed. Now, this fifth wheel features a 16,000 pound gross trailer weight limit. That's the amount that it could pull and it also features a 4,000 pound vertical load limit. The head on the fifth wheel itself does swivel side-to-side and back-to-front to allow you to get the right angle when hooking up to your trailer. The way that we're gonna hook this up to your trailer is if you come over to this handle, rotate it up and then pull it out, you'll see the jaws are going to open. more

Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider Installation - 2015 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2015 Ford F250 we're going to be taking a look at the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package, part number C16520-16020. Here's what our 5th wheel hitch looks like fully installed. It's going to allow us to tow a 5th wheel trailer, and even though we have a short bed truck, that's where the slider's going to come in and it gives it that little bit of extra clearance. We come to the driver's side of our hitch here, the vertical bar here, it's going to be a latch for our slide. Now, this red indicator is letting us know that it's unlocked. When it's in the unlocked position, it's going to allow our hitch to slide back so when we make a turn, we don't have to worry about our 5th wheel trailer making contact with our cab. Then when we're ready to straighten back out, the hitch will slide back into the towed position, and we can lock the handle. Now here on our slider on the other side, it's going to show a green indicator letting us know that we're ready to tow. more

Today on our 2015 Ford F250, we're gonna be taking a look at the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package, part number BWRVK3370. Now, our fifth-wheel hitch is gonna allow us to tow a fifth-wheel trailer, and since it has a slider base on it, it's gonna give us that extra clearance when we're making tight turns so our trailer doesn't come in contact with our cab. Our handle's down here. It's gonna have it labeled. It's in the locked position. If we go to the unlocked position, we're gonna be able to slide our hitch a full 12 inches to give us that extra clearance. more

Fifth Wheel Installation - 2002 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2002 Ford Super Duty, well be installing the Reese Quick Install Custom Base Rails and Install Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches, part number RP50082-58 in conjunction with the Reese Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Square Tube Slider Dual-Jaw, part number RP30051. The first step of our install is taking the rear base rail and setting it up in our truck bed. Using the measurements provided in our install kit, well go ahead and measure it out from the end of the truck bed. Note: this does not include the tailgate. Then well measure from side to side to make sure the base rail is even. The best recommendation is to go off the weld seam of the truck bed. more
